On December 19, 1987, Colonel Ajay Joshi was commissioned into the prestigious Mahar Regiment of the Indian Army (Infantry), marking the beginning of a distinguished career spanning over three decades in service to the nation.
A seasoned combat leader and strategist, Col. Joshi served with valor and commitment in operational roles across Sri Lanka, Sikkim, Udhampur, Ranchi, Jaipur, Rajouri, and Kolkata, including active deployment during Operation Pawan. He held key appointments such as Company Commander, Battalion Second-in-Command, Training Officer, Security Officer, and Administrative Officer — leading with courage and precision.
He completed elite military courses including Commando Training (Belgaum), Junior Command (Army War College), Weapons Specializations, and Intelligence Security Training. With a B.Com (Hons) from Delhi University and an MA in Sociology from Kumaon University, he’s both a field veteran and a scholar.
After voluntarily retiring in 2021, Col. Joshi turned his focus to mentoring the next generation. As a core mentor and defence expert at Patro Pune Defence Academy, he instills discipline, leadership, and a nation-first mindset in aspiring officers.
Under his mentorship, PPDA continues to uphold excellence in military-style training, academic coaching, and moral development — inspiring students not just to succeed in exams, but to serve the nation with honor.
